ICT Use, Digital Skills and Students’ Academic Performance: Exploring the Digital Divide

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are an integral part of our environment, their uses vary across generations among individuals. Today’s student population is made up “digital natives” who have grown under the ubiquitous influence digital technologies, for whom use ICT common whose daily activities structured around media use. The aim this study to examine impact skills on students’ academic performance explore divide in France. Data were collected through face-to-face questionnaires administered 1323 students enrolled three French universities. Principal component analysis, a non-hierarchical k-means clustering approach multilevel ordered logistic regression used data analysis provide four main findings: first, poor investment affects results; second, training offered by universities has little third, improves with innovative collaborative ICTs; fourth, acquisition increases performance. results show that still exists, raises questions about effectiveness education policies They suggest also organizational change essential enable exploitation ICT.
